In our 6th year in business, we are working hard to maintain the high quality of plant material for gardeners everywhere. Keeping an ample supply of colroful flowering plants in stock for your garden, maintaining our 1.5 acre prairie and keeping the 1/2-acre gardens tidy is keeping us busy this summer. We are begining to collect some seed from our propagated plants while many late-flowering plants have not bloomed yet. The nursery gardens have endured the long, hot dry summer with no ill effects from the drought, even with no additional watering. The blossoms are flourishing while the birds and butterflies are busily feeding and raising their young. We have several new species of plants available this year and continue to provide information on our native plants.
Incorporating native plants into your landscape at home or work will allow you to have more time to spend with your family AND save you money in the long run. Providing valuable habitat for our wildlife, helping native plants to grow and reducing our dependency on fossil fuels will help the environment now and in the future. Let us help you design a low-cost, low-maintenance garden for you and the wildlife to enjoy. Native landscaping offers many benefits for a cleaner, healthier environment because of their deep root systems, cleansing qualities of both soil and water as well as beneficial aspects for ecologically balanced ecosystems.
We are confident that you will find our recent additions of plants both useful and attractive in your landscape. Check back often for new updates on our website.
The bog garden provides the correct soil conditions for the Grass-Pink Orchids, Queen of the Prairie and various sedges to thrive. In its second growing season, the 1.5-acre prairie is producing many blossoms and seeds for use in other prairie plantings. We hope that the varieties we carry suit the ever-growing needs of our valued customers.
Visit the nursery often from April to October to see these ongoing projects
and witness the ever-changing procession of blooms!
